Day After Day.

November 25th, 2011, Friday

A design inspired, perhaps, by antlers...

Another near-perfect song.

Goodbye to yellow, hello to red.

Not quite goodbye to yesterday's drawing, though I did scrub my hand viciously to try to remove it.

These Crepuscular Fingers.

November 24th, 2011, Thursday

The somewhat snake-y pattern here was partially inspired by the video for Chapel Club's Surfacing. I re-discovered this song on my iTunes (I'm still rigidly staving off buying music willy nilly. And I am hating it. But it is forcing me to scroll through what I do already have) and I'm enamoured of it all over again.

I used this nail varnish for the first time yesterday and I threw it in the bin today. Not a great track record. It's not so obvious in the photos, but it is horrible. I'm kinda loving up the colour, but there are lots of tiny bubbles just under the surface and it took three coats (three really, really sticky, gloopy coats) to render it even mildly opaque. Luckily it wasn't expensive (£1.79 here but, seriously, heed my warning) though I am now yellow-nail-vanish-less. If you have any recommendations, please shoot 'em my way. This girl'd be grateful.

I'm loving this pair of mildly intense songs tonight...

Jeez louise, my neighbour's cat found its way into the house the other night and now it meows every night wanting to come back in. I have no patience for it, whatsoever. It is too presumptuous.

(It's Christmas one month tomorrow! Such excitement.)

Awash.

November 22nd, 2011, Tuesday

This is a slightly weird pattern. I'm not such a huge fan of what's happening in the top right corner, but the bottom I'm seriously digging. Urgh, nope, hard as I try, digging won't ever be a good word.

Unfortunately, my whole day hasn't been filled with hand drawings. There is a manhole in the floor of our house downstairs and today it was drained of its sewage. Consequently, our house is now enveloped in the smell of excrement. I literally cannot even describe how truly vile it smells right now.

But moving away from human waste: the two songs I have been really obsessed with this week are both remixes, the first being Alex Metric's remix of Niki & The Dove's Mother Protect (still in love with Niki & The Dove) and the second is a genius remix of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound Of Silence by The Two Mamarrachos, or T2MM.

You're Not A Bad Person.

You're my favourite person.

November 13th, 2011, Sunday

The title and words on my hand are, of course, from Kill Bill Vol. 2. The short dialogue they come from is one of my favourite conversations in a film, ever. I recently bought the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack and it has pushed my love of the films back to the front of my mind, especially since, as with all Tarantino soundtracks, the music is peppered with soundbites from the film. It is a bit surprising when O-Ren Ishii shouts in the middle of shuffle, though.

I also recently purchased Roy Orbison's In Dreams, which is, obviously, wonderful. (Well, it is probably only obvious if you are an Orbison fan.) I bought both in a bid to tide myself over musically until Christmas as I have banned myself from buying any more songs from iTunes until then. One song at a time, iTunes is killing my bank account. I don't know how well this plan is going to work, but I'm loving these songs right now (neither of which are exactly unheard of, but still deserving of love).

If you're curious about the nail colour, it is Eyeko's Rain polish, one of my favourite nail colours. However, Eyeko has been completely re-branded and have killed all of their nail varnishes. I am frustrated immensely.

Poison Pen.

 November 7th, 2011, Monday

My thoughts on the green pen? I'm enjoying its subtlety and its synonymity
with poison pen letters, but not its nib.

My copy of the Drive OST finally arrived (it was on back order when I bought it; clearly I wasn't the only one who fell in love with it) and I've been listening to it on repeat all day. My favourite right now is Tick Of The Clock by Chromatics, but this comes after being truly obsessed with Kavinsky's Night Call for a long time.

I saw True Romance for the first time in a while last night. You'Re So Cool remains one of the best songs I've ever heard. If you're similarly a fan, make sure you seek its origins in the Badlands' version of Carl Orff's earlier Gassenhauer. (Quentin Tarantino, the writer of True Romance, was inspired by Badlands when writing the enduring romance and Hans Zimmer reflected that in the soundtrack.)

Future Lexicon.

November 3rd, 2011, Thursday

I followed one of my most prolific months with a month in which I posted just once. Shame on you, October's Georgiana. Hopefully I'll get back into the rhythm of drawing and posting more frequently this month.

I'm really loving Niki & The Dove right now, especially this song and it's awesome video
and their song The Fox, which you can download here for free.

As is often the case, my nail varnish is OPI's I'm Not Really A Waitress.
