Purple, eh? This is new. What brilliant vibrancy. It seemed like the perfect time to photograph my hand next to the ebullient yellow wood of my wardrobe and my sickeningly cheery blue bed-sheet (almost the same colour as my nail varnish) (of course, this is as unintentional as anything can possibly be) (I am not quite so coordinated as that).

Most of the time, my patterns tend to sprawl across my hand, as it's an addictive activity and it can be hard to stop adding just a little bit more, but sometimes, I love the simplicity of an isolated pattern that very much sits on the skin rather than transforming it and following its lines.

That's the beauty of arm skin: it is so different from the skin on my hand; it is such a smart surface, such an absence of texture, ready and waiting.
